Shizuoka Prefecture is located nearly at the center of Japan on the Pacific Ocean side, stretching 155 km east and west and 118 km north and south. It has an area of 7,780 km2 (Environment-dependent letters) that is proudly Japan’s 13th largest. Shizuoka Prefecture, famous as the “Prefecture of Mt Fuji” and a “Manufacturing Prefecture” and blessed with a rich natural environment including Mt. Fuji, has flourished since long ago as an important traffic terminal and has been developing various industries and cultures. Today, foreigners from various countries such as Brazil, Korea and elsewhere live here. With the opening of the Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport in June 2009, much more development is expected.
